We celebrate the bicentennial of Henry David Thoreau’s birth on July 12, 1817 with a Surprise Birthday Present: the creation of the (Beta version of the) Thoreau Polymonophonic Journal Project. All are welcome to participate by recording their thoughtful readings from Thoreau’s Journal and sharing these recordings online with other attentive readers and listeners.

How to enable the microphone in Firefox:
- Enter about:permissions into the address bar as if it were a website and hit Enter. "Permissions Manager" should appear.
- Enter www.speakpipe.com into the search bar of the "Permission Manager" and select www.speakpipe.com in the list.
- Find the "Use the Microphone" permission and set Allow (or Always ask) for it.
